China Waliguan atmospheric background reference Observatory was founded in 1994. It is located on the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, 100 ° 54'e, 36 ° 17'n and 3810 m above sea level. It is the highest atmospheric background monitoring station in the world and the first atmospheric background monitoring station located in the hinterland of the mainland in the world. Its establishment fills the gap of the global atmospheric monitoring network (GAW) in Eurasia. Waliguan atmospheric background reference Observatory is jointly invested and constructed by the Chinese government and the global environment facility, and operated and managed by the China Meteorological Administration. According to the 2014 China greenhouse gas bulletin, the annual average concentrations of three major greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide) in the atmosphere of Waliguan Global Atmospheric Background Station in 2014 increased to 398.7ppm, 1893ppb and 327.9ppb, respectively, higher than the global average of the same period, but lower than the northern half The average concentration in the mid latitude area is about the same, which is the highest since the establishment of the station in 1990. This data set includes the global atmospheric background observation data of Waliguan in China, and is the monthly mean data set of online methane observation in Waliguan from 2001 to 2011.
